Trauma Therapy
For the parts of you that still feel stuck in the story
Let’s Talk About What Trauma Really Is
Trauma isn’t just about what happened—it’s about how it lives in your body, your thoughts, your relationships, and your sense of safety. Whether it stems from a single moment or years of ongoing stress, trauma can distort how you see yourself and the world around you. At Guidance, we understand how layered, nuanced, and nonlinear healing can be. You don’t need to have the “right” words or a perfect memory of events. You just need a place where your story can unfold without pressure, judgment, or fear.
How We Work With Trauma
You’re in charge of the pace, process, and how deep we go. Always. Our trauma therapists are trained in evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities, but more than that—we’re trained in holding space. Sessions move at your pace, not a treatment plan’s. We co-create safety first, and only then begin to explore what hurts. Some of what therapy might include:
Somatic work to support nervous system regulation
Identity-affirming processing for relational or systemic trauma
Narrative therapy or metaphor to reframe internalized beliefs
Expressive work through art, media, or movement
Concrete coping tools for flashbacks, overwhelm, or shutdown
You’re Not Overreacting—You’re Adapting
Fight, flight, freeze, fawn—these aren’t personality flaws. They’re your brain’s way of keeping you alive when things felt unsafe. We work to help you understand and rewire those patterns with gentleness, not shame.
When it comes to wholeness, we’re never quite as close as we think,
but we’re also never as far as we fear.
—Dr. Gabor Maté
Healing Can Look Like a Lot of Things
Maybe you want to reconnect with your body. Maybe you just want to be able to sit still without your mind racing. Maybe you’re not even sure what you want—only that you’re tired of carrying it alone.
That’s enough to start. We’ll help you figure out the rest.
