San Diego Comic-Con International is an annual five-day comic book, science fiction, and film convention at San Diego Convention Center. It is a mothership for everything geeky-nerdy-pop culture based.

This year, I was honored to participate in a panel geared toward honoring food in fandom. This new experience taught me a lot about coordination, planning, and going with the flow.

Check out the recording of the panel below:

Date: Thursday, July 21, 2022
Time: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Location: Room 24ABC at the Anaheim Convention Center
Like in the movie Hook, belief and imagination turn an empty plate into a delectable meal for many chefs and home cooks. The culinary world embraces recipes that pay homage to favorite fandom food through pop-up restaurants, TikToks, and themed cookbooks. Whether it’s making bacon pancakes, craving Lembas bread, guessing the secret ingredient in an infamous Krabby Patty, or healing from an Arepa con queso, Joon Chun (restaurant owner of KPop Chicken), Earl Baylon (Netflix' Tombraider, associate producer/actor, Lumpia with a Vengeance), Chance Calloway (creator of Pretty Dudes), Celina Bernice (Artist) and moderators Ariel Landrum (therapist) and Stefanie Bautista (educator) will share the recipes and love of food from their geeky table to yours.

If you haven’t already, check out the podcast that I cohost with my friend Stefanie, Happiest Pod On Earth, where we discuss how we use Disney in the therapeutic and educational settings.
