Patient Bill of Rights


As a patient of Guidance Teletherapy, you have certain patient rights:

  • To expect that a licensee has met the qualifications of training and experience required by state law.

  • To examine public records maintained by the Board and to have the Board confirm credentials of a licensee.

  • To quality mental health care and to be able to report complaints to the Board.

  • To be informed of the cost of professional services before receiving the services.

  • To be assured of privacy and confidentiality while receiving services as defined by rule or law, with the following exceptions:

    • Reporting suspected child abuse (sexual, physical, neglect, abandonment, and/or emotional).

    • Reporting suspected elder/dependent/vulnerable adult abuse (sexual, physical, neglect, abandonment, emotional, and/or exploitation).

    • Reporting imminent danger to yourself or others.

    • Reporting information required in court proceedings or by your insurance company, or other relevant agencies.

    • Providing information concerning licensee case consultation or supervision

    • Reporting necessary information to a client’s insurance company or EAP program or other relevant agencies.

    • Defending claims brought by you against Guidance Teletherapy and/or it’s staff (clinicians, management, technical support staff, etc.).

    • Working with an outside collection agency to obtain outstanding balance payments owed by you.

  • Every client has the right to refuse therapy. The therapist shall provide the client with appropriate referrals if the therapist cannot meet the client's need.

  • To be free from discrimination because of age, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, national origin, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, relationship status, linguistic status, or socioeconomic status.
